There have been a number of fraudulent adverts posted on AstroBuySell for rather expensive telescopes.  The ads are a collage of text and photos copied from legitimate ads on eBay and other sites.  These crooks use IP addresses from the USA, but also from the UK. Here is a list of aliases and email addresses they have used so far on AstroBuySell:

planet9 - wowplanet1@hotmail.com, claims to be from London, England. The IP address is from the USA
bordura - titibordura@yahoo.com, claims to be from London, England. The IP address is from Glasgow, Scotland
titoashca - titoashca@aol.com, claims to be from Glasgow, England (which makes no sense). The IP address is from the USA
dendrino - dendrino@gmail.com, claims to be from Kirkwall, UK. The IP address is from Cardiff, Wales
pistolcuapa - pistolcuapa@aol.com, claims to be from Douglas, Isle of Man. The IP address is from the USA
bowline51 - bowline51@yahoo.com, claims to be from London, England. The IP address is from the USA

The items posted for sale were a TAKAHASHI TOA130s w/accessories, Tak102TSA & TOA130 Binoscopes, Meade 10-inch LX200 GPS and Meade 12-inch LX200.
Be watchful because these crooks change their aliases and email addresses daily.

Fake eBay Auctions

There are a large number of fake auctions on eBay for high end Meade and
Takahashi kit. Most are characterised by

1) 24 hour listings.
2) Only contact is through an external e-mail address (basically a high
jacked eBay account).
3) Payment through Western Union.
4) Prices too good to be true. 14" RC meades for £700.

They also now have a fake eBay sign in screen that you get to after
clicking on a URL for more details. I suspect they are using these
hijacked logons to launch more and more fake auctions.

Always, always, always check the URL before entering your name and
password. The current one being used is in Russia, though it could be
anywhere.
