|17.5 inch truss tube Dobsonian|
17.5 inch truss tube old school Dobsonian for sale.
I built this scope back in the nineties. The scope moves smoothly n ra and dec ...its rock solid with no backlash. Its been a joy to use.
The coulter primary and secondary could use a recoat as the coatings are original. The focuser could be updated but it works .... It's been a workhorse scope and has provided me with fantastic views that smaller scopes just can't do.
The optics have never been tested but I have never felt they were lacking in any way and they have always provided nice crisp detailed views of planets and deep sky objects at both low and high magnifications.
If you have any interest in the scope or any questions drop me a line.
Sorry but its to heavy to ship. My recollection is that the mirror and mirror box weigh 80 lbs. I could possibly deliver within a few hours drive of Vancouver... I actually live in Gibsons which is a ferry ride from the city so Vancouver is fairly accessible to me. I guess if someone really wants it we could make it happen but otherwise I will be taking it with me to the Oregon star party and hopefully selling it there next week. If you want it let me know asap...thanks!
Thanks for looking and have a nice day!
PS The scope is just way to big to ship anywhere so pls dont ask me about shipping it to you... I cant...sorry. If you are somewhere between Vancouver, BC and the Oregon star party I could meet you on the way if that would work for you... thanks!
Also i have had some questions about the height and weight. I am 6 ft 2 inches tall and can just reach the eyepiece on my tippy toes when pointed at the zenith. The stool you see in the photo is all I ever need. The mirror box with the mirror in it weighs 80 lbs to the best of my recollection. It is hinged and breaks down so the the mirror portion is much lighter and easy for one person to setup and breakdown.
