|Artemis 285 Mono Cooled CCD Camera - same sensitive Sony ICS285AL chip as Atik314L+, Atik16HR and SX-H9. Looking for £300ish|
I am selling my Artemis 285 CCD Camera which has the very sensitive Sony Exview ICX285AL monochrome CCD chip, offers 1.45MP resolution (1392x1040) and extremely effective anti-blooming.
This is the same CCD as that contained within the Atik 314L+, Starlight Xpress SXV-H9C and the Atik16HR (indeed the Artemis 285 is the forerunner to the Atik16HR and is virtually identical).
This chip really is very sensitive indeed (important not only to get as bright an image as possible on feint objects but also as quickly as possible, in case of mount/guiding tracking errors).
As it's a monochrome camera it is more versatile if you have light pollution, much more efficient than a colour camera and better suited for narrowband imaging.
The Camera is held in a sturdy aluminium housing. The sensor is in its own separate chamber - inside the body of the camera there is a small syringe filled with dessicant which you can easily remove to recharge to prevent any dewing issues occurring in the chamber.
The Peltier effect cooler is very effective and the fan is smooth and doesn't induce any vibrations.
The camera can be connected either by the M42 thread in the body of the camera or by the 1.25" nosepiece, included.
It also has autoguiding capability (although I imagine you'd want to use this as your main imaging camera!) and comes with a 1.25" nosepiece, its own power supply and USB cable.
The software is very easy to install and use and the camera can be controlled with all major software like MaximDL, Astroart, etc.
I have not had many opportunities to use this camera so the attached sample images are unfortunately no way near what can be achieved using this camera (they have also had to be compressed to fit in the 75kB limit) - I can point you in the direction of better examples from the internet to see its full capabilities in the hands of more experienced users.
Let me know if you have any questions or would like to make me an offer... I'm looking for something in the region of 300 pounds, which is a very capable camera for the money compared to how much they go for when new. But please get in touch as I am happy to negotiate!
